Privacy Policy

UnPlugged LM is designed from the ground up to keep your data on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. Everything stays with you.

1. Who we are

UnPlugged LM is developed and published by SmartDataIQ (unpluggedlm.com). References to "we", "us", or "our" in this policy refer to SmartDataIQ.

2. Data we do NOT collect

We do not collect, transmit, or have access to:

Your name, email address, or any account information
Your chat messages or conversation history
Any documents you import (PDFs, Word files, etc.)
Your device identifiers, IP address, or location
Usage analytics, crash reports, or telemetry of any kind
The AI models you download or use

3. Where your data lives

All data created or imported in UnPlugged LM is stored exclusively in your device's private application sandbox:

Chat history — stored in a local SQLite database on your device
Documents — stored in your app's private Documents folder
Embeddings & RAG index — stored in the same local SQLite database
AI models — stored as GGUF files in your app's Documents folder
Settings — stored in local SharedPreferences / NSUserDefaults

None of this data is backed up to any cloud service operated by us. If you use iCloud Backup (iOS) or Google One Backup (Android), your device's backup settings govern whether app data is included — we do not control or access those backups.

4. AI inference

All AI processing runs entirely on your device using llama.cpp, a local inference engine. Your prompts and responses never leave your phone or tablet. We have no visibility into what you ask or what the model responds.

5. Local AI Server (Pro feature)

When you enable the Local AI Server, UnPlugged LM opens a network port on your device and listens for connections on your local Wi-Fi network. Please note:

The server is only reachable by devices on the same Wi-Fi network — it does not expose any port to the internet
We recommend setting a Browser Access Code in Settings to restrict who can connect
Network traffic between your phone and other devices on your local network is not encrypted (HTTP, not HTTPS) — do not use this feature on untrusted public Wi-Fi
We do not receive or log any traffic that passes through the local server

6. In-app purchases

The optional UnPlugged LM Pro upgrade is processed entirely by Apple (App Store) or Google (Google Play). We do not handle, store, or have access to your payment details. Please refer to Apple's or Google's privacy policies for how they handle payment data.

Purchase status (whether Pro is unlocked) is stored locally on your device in SharedPreferences / NSUserDefaults. We cannot see whether you have purchased Pro.

7. Model downloads

When you download an AI model from within the app, the download is fetched from Hugging Face (huggingface.co) or another third-party model host listed in the app. Your download is subject to the privacy policy of that host. We do not proxy or log model downloads.

8. Third-party SDKs

UnPlugged LM uses the following platform SDKs that may process limited data:

Apple StoreKit / Google Play Billing — for processing the Pro in-app purchase
Apple Speech framework / Android SpeechRecognizer (Pro voice features) — speech recognition runs on-device where the OS permits; on iOS, Apple may process audio for Siri Suggestions if you have that system setting enabled

No other third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking SDKs are included in UnPlugged LM.

9. Children's privacy

UnPlugged LM is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children. Because we collect no personal information from any user, this distinction is largely academic — but if you believe a child has provided information through our app, please contact us and we will address it promptly.

10. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify users via an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
